Kareem Jamar from Montana has been selected for StatSheet's Big Sky Player of the Week for February 11th. StatSheet's Big Sky Freshman of the Week goes to A.J. Hess from Southern Utah. Jamar registered respectable numbers with 50% shooting, 16 points per game, and 8.5 rebounds per game. The Montana junior put these numbers up in wins against Northern Colorado and North Dakota.
Jamar topped all scoring and rebounding for the Grizzlies with 18 points and 8 rebounds in a 73-63 win against Northern Colorado. He followed that up with a team-leading 9 rebounds plus an additional 6 assists in a huge 78-58 win against North Dakota.
This is one of three StatSheet Big Sky Player of the Week awards for Kareem Jamar. He has also received an honorable mention. The runner-up this week is Troy Huff, a junior from North Dakota. Honorable mention goes to Southern Utah senior Jackson Stevenett. The highest ranking player from Northern Colorado was Tate Unruh who finished sixth.
StatSheet Big Sky Freshman of the Week: Southern Utah's A.J. Hess
A.J. Hess averaged 23 minutes of playing time as a starter for Southern Utah. In a late 81-79 win over Idaho State, Hess registered 12 points and 2 rebounds. Then in a 75-58 loss to Weber State, he totaled 3 points and 4 rebounds.
This is the first StatSheet Big Sky Freshman of the Week award for A.J. Hess. The runner-up is Joel Bolomboy from Weber State. Honorable mention goes to Thomas Reuter from Eastern Washington. Northern Colorado has yet to win StatSheet Big Sky Player of the Week.
